Overview

Why this system exists

Room-level CRAC units cool a volume. In-row units cool a rack. Placed between two racks in a hot aisle, an IRC unit draws hot air directly from the exhaust stream and returns cold air to the cold aisle at a distance measured in centimetres — which is why it can handle 25–60 kW from a single 300 mm frame without over-pressurising the floor.

Capacity modulates continuously: inverter compressors and EC fans follow the actual IT load rather than cycling on and off. In cool climates the free-cooling coil takes over whenever the outdoor temperature allows, and the unit reports coil, compressor and airflow data to the DCIM platform.
