United Arab Emirates — Banking Disaster Recovery Site
A 600 kW DR facility with 15-minute lithium runtime and fully concurrent maintainability, delivered into an existing shell.
01 — The challenge
The bank's regulator required a DR site capable of taking core banking traffic within 30 minutes of a primary failure, with no single point of failure in the power path and full maintenance capability while live. The available shell had a floor loading limit that ruled out a conventional VRLA battery room.
02 — The solution
Two 300 kVA HP33 modular UPS frames were installed in a 2N configuration, each paired with an LFP battery cabinet providing 15 minutes at full load. The lithium cabinets weigh roughly 60% of the equivalent lead-acid bank, which kept the installation inside the floor loading limit.
In-row chilled-water units provide N+1 cooling, and every component — UPS module, battery cabinet, cooling unit — can be isolated and replaced while the site remains live.
03 — The result
The site passed the regulator's witness test first time, including a full-load transfer and a live UPS module replacement. Installation took six weeks inside an occupied building, with no disruption to the tenant on the floor below.
